Ready the Prince - Regicide (Music Video)
When the Canadian rock band Ready the Prince shared the song "Regicide" with me, I knew that the powerful track had to be represented through bold and visceral visuals. Together, we developed an entire story, world, and cast of characters that were a metaphorical representation of the lyrics and sonic atmosphere. The elaborate scale of what we intended to create warranted a frame by frame animation with smooth transitions and symbolic imagery all rendered in hand drawn line-work. The striking red/black color palette, iconic snake design, and raw depiction of the lead vocalist all became emblematic within the Ready the Prince fan base around the world.
cleopatrick - 2008 (Music Video)
cleopatrick reached out to me with a simple yet powerful vision in mind for the “2008” music video. We worked closely together to make sure that the story and animation beats aligned with the song structure and the increasing intensity. For the art direction, I took inspiration from cleopatrick’s brand aesthetic on their debut album Bummer, which uses expressive pen line-work. The song and visuals come together to create an experience that takes the viewer on a unique emotional journey.
Ready the Prince - Pray (Lyric Video)
“Time stolen all my life spent on the feed. Likes, tweets just why I forget to speak.” Unlike the Regicide music video for Ready the Prince which involved dozens of short visceral scenes, I wanted to take a more focused and minimal approach with their single Pray. With the band’s collaboration, we came up with story beats that continued from Regicide and 3 distinct scenes that went with the sections of the song. Color played a big part as well to compliment the emotions in the track, and I took inspiration from the different times of day. Regicide was all about the action, while Pray is all about the subtle details that you’ll catch after a second look.
